CCRM DECLARATION

Moved and inspired by the tragic death of Robert we have decided to establish a Canadian Civil Rights Movement (CCRM) so that his martyr death is not in vain. Our primary goal is to bring immediate justice for all those responsible – RCMP and YVR authorities. It is also essential to review police practices and create new civilian independent watchdog organization.

Our far-reaching objective is to reinforce, protect, and maintain civil and human rights in Canada.

We want to act as an umbrella movement which will focus on information flowing through the internet, initiate and organize the public’s reaction and response and address federal and provincial governments and elected officials with issues of our concern.

“PEOPLE BECOME GOOD BY DOING GOOD. IT IS RARE THAT THE PERSON IS GOOD BY NATURE ALONE. GOODNESS DOES NOT EXIST SO ONE CAN MAKE USE OF IT. GOODNESS DOES NOT FLOW FROM A PLACE OF WEAKNESS BUT ONE OF POWER”- from Robert Dziekanski’ postcard to his mom Zofia.

Never doubt that even a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

We are over 10,000 members on the Facebook in two groups: Canadian Civil Rights Movement and Petition against RCMP officers involved in YVR Tazer Death. We also cooperate with other Facebook related groups.

Dr. Mike Webster – advisor

Police Psychologist, for 30 years he has been lecturing police forces in Canada, USA, South America and  Europe, teaching them what to do in dangerous situations without resorting to use of violence. He has consulted with various police forces around the world on famous cases of kidnappings and terrorism, saving lives of hostages. He’s been associated with the RCMP for more than 30 years. He’s been a consultant on undercover operations, hostage-takings and kidnappings. He is recognized as a leader in his field. On 13th of May 2009 Dr. Webster testified as an Expert Witness in front of Braidwood Inquiry to provide the Dziekanski family and the public with a complete record of the circumstances of Mr. Robert Dziekanski’s death and to make recommendations the Commissioner considers necessary and appropriate. Dr. Webster suggested the four RCMP officers involved in the incident panicked and abandoned their basic training. His very educational and shocking (for RCMP) testimony is available at: http://braidwoodinquiry.ca/hearings_transcripts/BraidwoodHearingsMay13-09.pdf
